...is an informal club that meets once a week in a building owned by a club member. It is an impressive double stack layout that is built to represent the state of Louisiana. Visitors are welcome as well. It was nice to see a layout big enough to give a sense of distance and industries big enough to justify the car traffic to and from them. They are currently putting the finishing touches on a working signal system and Centralized Traffic Control.
Lot of work there, on this layout... I like especially that... hall? on the 5th picture, but probably because it looks kind of European (era 1 station or something...).
ReplyDeleteI feel some sort of difference between these "club layouts" and the personal layouts at home - and I wonder if it's only me to think like that. I mean, the club dioramas are always bigger, "richer" (in rolling stock and all stuff), while home layouts are smaller but... more loved? Or maybe it's the feeling that "it's mine, I can do it as I like", while the club layout has usually more than a "master"/owner.
Clubs generally have established goals that everyone agrees on whereas home layouts tend to follow the whim of the owner. This club has set theirs squarely in Era 5 with modern cars and locomotives, only allowing steam locomotives for limited "excursion" type runs.
ReplyDeleteI was very impressed watching your YouTube video, but was even more impressed going into your website and learning about a fellow believer who is also a model railroader.
ReplyDeleteI do have one elementary question to ask. On the freight warehouse in Avondale what color was used on the limestone/concrete. This appears to be the exact color which I am trying to obtain, but have not been successful.
Thanks for any information
