There...just off the highway, about 15 yards into the woods...
...how about now?
Maybe now?
Found this old right-of-way on a drive to a distant property, the rails most likely the victim of a WWII scrap drive.
As with anything, it's not necessarily what you see, but what you're looking for...

I simply love places and (rail)roads like this. Nostalgia and lost tales... And there was such a "ghost railroad" somewhere, I walked on it as a kid, it is disappeared for some years now, probably sold to the scrap yard.
What do you mean "victim of a WW2 scrap drive", sir? Did they took the tracks in the 1940s, due to the need of metal materials of war industries?
On the other hand... it seems that this (somehow unexpected, if I'm not wrong)job brings you some unexpected and pleasant moments... God bless you !
Where I live, these are everywhere and sometimes very well hidden.
During WWII, steel was at a premium over here so any abandoned rail would have been quickly recycled.
Good to hear from you, sir.
Blessings, grace and peace to you and yours, BC
