AAR wheel bearing, flange and journal condemning gauges


...circa 1956, a gift from a resident who is a retired Frisco wreck train supervisor. They are used to check the wear on flanges, wheel surfaces, axle bearings...even journal box lids. They haven't been in use since the AAR banned wrought iron wheels and friction bearing trucks.

Now...if the railroads---from the shiniest brass hat to the lowest gandy dancer---understood they needed a transcending standard that all were held to, regardless of where they were in the country...what's up with the Church in this country today?
