Adjusting Kadee trip pins...


...used to be pretty hairy 'til I found this little dandy at an A.C. Moore craft store. It's called a 3 step coil plier and looks an awful lot like the one Kadee sells...except the price.

You curve the pin inward by grasping it like so...

The $5 saved may not sound like much stateside but it means a whole lot to these folks here and here. It also allows me to salvage many Kadees that come my way badly bent from earlier adjustments made by enthusiastic modelers in the past. Knowing modelers will recognize that shank as one from a very old school Kadee from the early 60s. Many of these came to me with their pins bent to a 45 degree angle, these pliers brought the curve right back in just a few steps.
