Bachmann DD40AX "Centennials", circa 1984

Picked these up just before the move...yes, they have their problems but, they do run and they do have the correct see-thru walk thru in the center of the long hood---and---their gears aren't cracked, an amazing thing when you figure the plastic used was so bad they could crack sitting in the box on the hobby shop shelf. And I happen to like the "stoopid blinky LED" on the roof of the cab...

I somehow love trouble-makers things. I miss the times of Windows 95/98 when... you know, "blue screen of death", "xyz.dll not found", boot diskettes and so on. Otherwise, who likes the "perfect" things (even if we aim for them)?!

I call them Bill and Ben, after the troublesome twin tank engines on the Thomas a friends show...
