...er...well...at least a video of one in action. My mother-in-law gave me one for my 50th birthday, it just hasn't arrived in the mail yet. I get to torment myself with videos like this until it does...
Mine is from around the same time frame as this one as it has the blue cylinder and gray base. It is also complete with its chimney, a feature that many of them seem to have lost over the years, judging from the number that are missing theirs on You-Tube. This one is also missing the spinning but non-working ball governor that is normally positioned next to the cylinder and runs off of a spring belt from the flywheel.

Lol, a STATIONARY steam engine... such a nightmare for a modelist that works only with cardboard ...sigh...
Maybe not necessarily a nightmare, but a hard-to-understand thing, anyway...
Here's one made just for you paper modelers...and...it's a free download to boot.

Mom knew I wouldn't buy it myself so she got it for me. They're very intriguing, the power of boiling water is fascinating to watch unfold before one's eyes.
Thank you very much, got it. I'll try it in the future, now I want to build a little rail diorama, all out of cardboard (and maybe a few others "static materials" like wooden sticks etc).
