...a nice swap meet find to go with my dad's shay. An intriguing piece of railroading, these cars were designed to tote logs of just about any length. One only had to chain one or more logs to one then roll another onto the other end, using the load as a frame element. At the end of the day, you coupled them together in a single train back up to camp. The brakes were probably there as a placebo, I could not imagine running from one to another to stop these things under full load.
